Question : what are the best tarot cards to buy?
I’m looking to try out tarot cards and there are a lot of different types to choose from. Does anybody know the best ones for the money?
Answer by Angelina
What is your definition of best? All tarot cards do the same thing. Do you mean the prettiest? Do you have a theme that you are looking for like angels or goddesses? There are so many out there. Go to tarot.com to see them all and find out the name of the one you want. Then get online and buy it!

The Pretty ones.

You could go for the traditional raider-waite, or for a personal suggestion if you like some extra but not overdone design, I really love the artwork from Ciro Marchetti. You can get his Gilded Tarot or Legacy of the Divine Tarot. I have both.

Do it online, it’s free and you don’t have to remember any of the cards meanings.
(its all bull, you knew that, right?)
Have fun with it! Remember, it is YOUR interpretation of the meanings of the cards that provides you with “insight”. Sometimes, you can even get an eerie reading! This is just due to your own interpretation… they are ONLY cards!

Pick the ones that you think are the nicest. The all are actually the same and no one kind works better than another. To be true Tarot cards, they must all include the same suits and types of cards, The king, The queen, the lovers, etc. I have the Vampire Tarot because I liked the pictures. There is even a deck that has the meanings written on them, this might be a good one for you to start with as a new user.
Answer by Spyderbear
If you’re not familiar with the cards, the Rider-Waite deck might be the best bet. They are used in most books, and may make learning easier. Once you have the basic meanings down, go back and look the decks over. Most stores will let you open a deck to see the cards. Choose the one that “speaks” to you.

The big cards with the vibrant colors…get a rose quartz and some amethyst.

What makes mass produced playing cards magical? The cardboard or the inks? Tarots are a form of divination. Basically the “reader” is a psychic with the cards a prop of randomness. There are 78 different cards, much more than regular cards. If you ever played poker, you know how rare certain combinations are. Having back to back royal flushes is near impossible. Repeating spreads for Tarots are impossible because position matters too.
Tarot has been a real game for centuries before they were used to do fortunes. Like astrologers, no two will read the cards alike.

Try this web site
You shouldn’t do your own fortune it is supposed it be very bad if you do and don’t get a wigi board.

You get guinea pigs, and by guinea pigs I mean people that want readings. I read for people in school. it took me about 4 months to get “good” at it, and by good I mean not needing the book any more. As far as doing it right, get more books, the more you learn the better. There is no one right way, but there is the way that works for you. Good luck. You will know you are doing it right because people will say “wow, thats freaky or wow, that was dead on”. Also, join a tarot group on facebook. You’ll find all kinds of people from different walks of life. Good luck to you and congrats on your new deck.

I think this link http://www.mysticscripts.com/tarot/tarot-reading/ will you a lot. Happy tarot reading.

Each card has 6 or 8 different meanings upright, and another 5 or 6 in reverse, so learning the card meanings are important. AND the spread you lay them out in (use small spreads of 1 to maybe 5 cards at most when you’re learning) also affect the reading. The whole thing is learning how to interpret them for a specific question asked.
One of the best sites I’ve seen online is www.learntarot.com
And one of the best forums to ask questions in is over at the Aeclectic tarot site — http://www.tarotforum.net/
You’ll find that each card has a basic ‘theme’ which makes things a bit easier to understand. However it depends on which deck you purchased. If the Tarot of Nostradamus isn’t similar to the Rider Waite decks, it’ll be a different learning curve. You’ll have to rely on the book instead of the learntarot site.
Question : Where can I buy an authentic set of tarot cards in tampa, FL?
I am not looking for a big box store or a novelty item, I want a real deck of tarot cards.
Answer by Elaine M
The ‘novelty’ items are the theme decks (like the Unicorn deck or the Hello Kitty deck). All the rest are legit tarot.
You can get those at www.tarotgarden.com or on Amazon or eBay. First you have to FIND the deck you like, there are over 3,000 different decks, and roughly 6,000 total types of decks available even though the others may be ‘out of print’.
The commonest one is the Rider Waite Tarot, which is available virtually anywhere. The art has been redone in different ways in other decks like the Aquarian, Robin Wood Tarot, Mary Hanson Roberts Tarot, etc. They all use the same basic images and all the same meanings. To see what’s out there, check under ‘decks’ on the Aeclectic Tarot site on line – read the reviews on how it works as a deck and what the images look like for whatever one you’re interested in.
I can say that the Robin Wood works very well and is a favorite of many people.

Is there a Barnes and Noble in the area? They usually have a few decks in the store. Otherwise, you can get it online at their site. The Universal Waite Tarot is the same as the Rider Waite deck, but the pictures are brighter. It’s a good deck for beginner and advanced use. It doesn’t really matter where you buy them.
Answer by bluemoondancer
Easy! Amazon.com is a great source of tarot card decks for any taste.
I have a collection of at least 30 decks and most of them come from Amazon.
i would suggest if you are beginning your adventure with the tarot, that you look for a classic Marseille deck (the foundation of all modern tarot decks) or the Rider-Waite tarot that has beautiful, evocative images also on the minor arcana (pip cards).
There are so many beautiful tarot decks that the quest for the perfect one is endless and, I must warn you, addictive!
