Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : tarot readers: do you think not wanting to give free readings is selfish..or a sign from your subsconsious?

I am an amateur reader, who would never go pro. I believe my gift is a gift from God that should be shared with others. However, nothing irks me more than when someone I dont know asks me for a reading about their love life, money issues, ect. To do a quality reading takes time and I feel, that unless you know the person well, it is rude to ask for a reading. unless you are facing an issue so distressing that your physical/ mental well being is in serious jeopardy, i feel that you should wait for a reading to be offered. it also bothers me when people I read for encourage their friends to ask me for readings, too. I realize that people are amazed but It makes me feel as if they view me as a magician and my gift as a card trick.

I feel that my feelings are a sign from my Higher Self that it does not want to be exploited. However, a lot of tarot dont seem to mind giving readings, so maybe that just me being selfish with my gift? what do you think?
* I meant to say,” a lot of tarot readers dont mind giving free readings…”
yes, i am on a “high horse.” I very much believe in my talent or I wouldnt give readings.

Answer by Frou Frou
everyone deserves to get paid for their jobs
no matter what they are
we all have bills
for some its their only income
thats not selfish
thats just life
so if you at any time want to be paid, dont be afraid to start charing, free doenst pay the bills
the higher ones, be it god or whoever, that gave you this gift are fully ware of society and its rules

people NEED you and seek your advice when they have bad times etc
you are like a guidance, THAT is your gift
not tarot reading
but helping people
it can be a stress when you feel thats all you do,that all they come to you for
alas thats the life of an advisor

you were given the gift to help those who need help
this is what you are good at, this is why they come to you

think of yourself like a councillor, but one with answers
tarot isnt just a little game
people come to you in need, sometimes desperate need, of help, advice, knowing something good to keep them going

they are amazed because you are actually helping them, they dont get it often, soemoen with the answers they need or want to hear

you are not being exploited nor exploiting your gift
because your gift is to listen, to hear, to know, to give
and thats what you do

you are being looked to by those who refer you, and those who come to you from referrals, as a person who can help them, advice them
and its not a bad thing
you are able to do something they not only dont understand, but could never see themselves doing

it is amazing, and yes like all things that are not understood, and seem beyond their reach it is soemthing they want to view, be a part of etc

but its not a bad thing

they are not using you or laughing at you or anything else
but appreciating you and what you can give
some will go away negatively, some will not
your concern, is that those who go positively, you have made their lives that bit better, possibly substantially, and given them some hope
and thats what you are here to do, not just give reading, but to give hope, good news, truth, answers and advice

I used to do readings too and went through that exact same thing. I eventually just made sure to “not have my cards with me” or make up some excuse, or just tell people you can only do them when the spirit moves you, not just whenever they want. Just be firm about it or you’ll end up resenting everyone and maybe even losing your gift. Maybe this is why some people charge for readings. To keep people from just stopping by all the time and demanding a reading.

Answer by Nyssa
I think you should just tell people to buzz off if they want to get a reading and you don’t feel like it.

Also, you’re on a bit of a high horse there. Perhaps, if you believe so strongly that you have been given a gift from god, you should practice some saintly qualities and have some humility.

Answer by Phoenix: Princess of Darkness
It just sounds like you have a specific way that you have to go about giving readings and this intrusion from random people disrupts your mojo, so to speak.

Just explain the rules to your friends and they’ll stop with the novelty referrals.

Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : Question about tarot cards?

I got a tarot reading yesterday and got some basic information, but I would like to know if there is more about them. It was a 12 card relationship spread , divided into 4 different sections : physical , mental , emotional and spiritual

In my view in order I got : king of cups , queen of cups , six of swords and The Star
in order the other person’s : eight of wands , king of wands , page of wands and ten of swords

And the connection card between us in order : The Tower , Page of Cups , Page of pentacles and the Strength card…

Based on your knowledge and experience, is this a good order …I am pretty new to all this so my question sound ambiguous, but please feel free to interpret how you see it. Anyone is welcome ( well except fot the flying skeptics and smartpants)

Thanks for your time
noooooooo….i am condemned…I cant be saved by god….

whatever…I am not christian.
Thanks GaryC

Hi Geeza,
yes , say on physical aspect , I have king of cups , the other person has eight of wands , and the physical binding/connection between us ( the shared card ) is the Tower ( ouch!). And same for the other cards.

The Bible strongly condemns spiritism, mediums, the occult, and psychics (Leviticus 20:27; Deuteronomy 18:10-13). Horoscopes, tarot cards, astrology, fortune tellers, palm readings, and séances fall into this category as well. These practices are based on the concept that there are gods, spirits, or deceased loved ones that can give you advice and guidance. These “gods” or “spirits” are demons (2 Corinthians 11:14-15). The Bible gives us no reason to believe that deceased loved ones can or would even want to contact us. If they were believers, they are in heaven enjoying the most wonderful place imaginable in fellowship with a loving God. If they were not believers, they are in hell, suffering the un-ending torment for rejecting God’s love and rebelling against Him.

first pair, king of cups eight of wands, means that victories in the relationship must not be horded over each other, but must be handled with grace. the second pair .queen and king, are the perfect match. the queen perfectly cares for the king who perfectly cares for the king.the third pair, six and page, represent how both will react to bad patches, the six representing a kind of comatose state and the page representing a regression to a spoiled child phase. the fourth pair represents the possible signs of the end of the relationship or how bad it will get before it gets better. the star says that one cannot lose hope, and the ten of swords says that resting is good.
the two conection pairs respectively mean that in a time of complete tearing down of the world around one, or the complete and total view of the world around one is shattered the other must hold a childlike affection and be willing to care for the other in a childlike way. the second set, when one is being to sane or too boring the other must drag one out of there rut through pure force.

I’m not quite sure I understand the spread your reader used. Are you saying each set of cards you listed follows the order of physical, mental, emotional, spiritual? So for example, King of Cups is your physical, Eight of Wands is the other person’s physical, the connection between you two is The Tower?

EDIT: OK then…

Having the Tower in between the two physical cards tells me that there’s gong to be some conflict there on the foundation level. Particularly with you being the King of Cups and the partner being Eight of Wands, there might be something more emotional about you and something more blunt and assertive about the significant other. Maybe you might find the person to be “out of control” when it comes to the bedroom or how the person is dressed, etc. You still wield control though as “King” here.

For the mental, we’re seeing high-ranking cups for the both of you, so mentally things can get pretty deep, in a good way. There’s much stability. In between there’s the King of Wands. So there’s a strong passion or “fire” that’s connecting the two of you. It could mean that you find your mental prowess really coming out when discussing the arts, or after sex.

Emotionally, we have the Six of Swords and Page of Wands, connected by Page of Pentacles. It looks like the emotional ideas might be driven from the ideas of money and stability in and of itself. You might be feeling a little “blah”, though not devastated, while in contrast your partner could be much more optimistic and driven. There might be a new financial decision that the partner is excited for, but you’re worried about.

Lastly, we’ve got a really strong combination here spiritually with the Star, and Ten of Swords, connected by the Strength card. Sounds like she’s REALLY coming up at the end of a cycle here, but you’re pulling her through. I’m not sure what that might entail though.

(And yeah, this place is full of Jesus freaks. They like to hop on questions like this.)

I am concerned that your focusing on the cards themselves. That’s OK but did the reading otherwise have meaning to you ?
I have been reading for years and I do mostly intuitive readings but I use my cards. The reading should have had meaning to you and the reader should have checked with you and brought some meaning and understand directly to you otherwise the client gained nothing because they walk away scratching their head. Next time you get a reading take paper and pen and a recorder if the reader allows it so you can have time to “re-hash” the information later. A good reader will not have a problem with that. Good luck !

Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : Which Tarot card most closely represents you? Why do you think so?

Answer by Blondes Against Judas Rabbi
The tarot itself picked Strength as my main card, and Queen of Cups as the secondary card.

I have to trust its judgment. If you put those two cards together, you get a pretty good idea of the kind of person I am.

Answer by Andy K
“The King of Wands” is the card I think that most closely resembles me at the moment.

The King of Wands identifies a person as active, a passionate heart. The throne he sits on has no top, indicating infinite possibilities. The salamander at his feet is shown because they can walk through fire without dying. If you follow its path, you will connect with heaven and earth, the fire will “purify” you and you will find your needs. Fire separates gold from impurities, combines all of your energies into a single form.

If you have a positive attitude towards the walk through the flames, you will be able to distinguish bad stress from healthy stress. Healthy stress keeps you in line, removes distractions. Take advantage of this opportunity. Get in there and get messy. A crucial moment has come about. “Confront stubbornness and heroics with actions that you wholeheartedly enjoy, for which you would walk through fire” – Evelin Burger, Professional tarot reader. Note: Don’t really walk through fire to purify yourself. This implies possibly meditation, hypnosis, or simply taking advantage of situations that present themselves to you. The walk through fire is different for everyone.

Tie that card to “The Emperor” card & I think it signifies where I want to be (idk how to read tarot cards). The Emperor is the 4th card — I was born in April, there are four males in my house, etc.

Some frequent keywords used by card readers in reference to The Emperor card are:

Fathering —– Stability —– Authority —– Power
Control —– Discipline —– Command —– Common sense
Status quo —– Order —– Structure —– Egocentrism
Tradition —– Rigidity —– Leadership —– Experience
Inflexibility —– Conservative ways —– Organization

The Emperor sits on his throne, holding a scepter, accompanied by the heraldic Eagle of the Holy Roman Empire. This is usually on his shield though the heraldic eagle is sometimes a free-standing statue or live bird. He symbolizes the top of the secular hierarchy, the ultimate male ego. The Emperor is the absolute ruler of the world.

“The Lovers” from Pearls of Wisdom Tarot…it suits me well right now. 🙂

I couldn’t find the whole deck, but I saw the Ace of Swords and felt it had ‘called’ to me.

I don’t know much about Tarot, I wonder what that card represents, and if it is me.

Answer by CHETAK
I know little about Tarot, I like tigers so if there is a card that covers that, so I will go for that.
A hunter and carnivore.

I have been using the High Priestess out of the Thoth Deck. I am a Thelemite and she has a specific beautiful corrospondence right now for me. She is on the Path between Tiperath (beauty the Sun) and Keter (the prime mobius crown). She is represented by the Hebrew letter Gimel which is also camel. She is the Priestess of the Silver Star. She is the only creature that can cross the Abyss and as such represents the Journey of Life. For me that is a really big thing right now. I am enjoying the Journey.

Enjoy your universe!

By way of calculations of my birthdate, my Soul & Personality card is the Empress, from the Major Arcana.
If I where to choose a court card from the Minors I am primarily the Queen of Pentacles. I choose this Queen because my natal chart is dominated by Earth signs. (Pentacles is the Earth suit)
BUT –LOL– I would not say, “most closely represents”,
I would say completely represents…..

exerpt from book-
“the Queen of sensual enjoyment, an earth mother similar to the Empress of the Major Arcana”

Imagine that!

key word meanings from

gives love and support
creates a warm, secure environment
makes people feel better
responds to the natural world
has a green thumb
has a way with children and animals
will do any service for others
is a soft touch
always has an open door and welcoming smile
gives freely and abundantly
is warm, generous and unselfish
handles problems matter-of-factly
allows others to be themselves
has no pretensions or affectations
takes a simple, sensible approach
appreciates all the senses
finds a use for whatever’s at hand
is handy and versatile
makes a little go a long way
gets around every obstacle
comes up with what’s needed
keeps confidences and secrets
is loyal and steadfast
comes through in a pinch
keeps faith with others
is true to his or her word

— every single description given above is me, no exaggeration and I did not edit anything out.
I can give many examples of events and actions I have had for each of the above phrases.

The Queen of Wands is simular, and sometimes, when I’m in a healing and creative mood, I connect with her more, but I definatly am the Queen of Pentacles.

I have no idea, it isn’t something I understand.
