Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : Does any one know how to make tarot cards out of a deck of cards?

My friend told me she read a book once that told her how to make tarot cards out of a deck of cards, she was wondering if anyone knew a site to tell her how to do so? Or if anyone out there has done it for themselves. I have searched for her, and found nothing.

Answer by Serena
Try these sites. I have a friend who knew what each card meant with a regular deck. But I don’t recommend playing around with it. Won’t tell you not to do it, though. I just know friends of mine who “messed around” with occult activities and basically ended up mentally ill. Or maybe they were already ill and it just fed on it. Don’t know. Just be careful, OK?

Tarot cards are evils domain. Keep away from this practice. THANK GOD; FEAR GOD; PRAISE GOD; GLORIFY GOD; HONOR GOD; LOVE GOD AND WORSHIP GOD.

it’s really hard to turn a regular deck of cards into a deck of tarot cards. the minor arcana is no big deal, but the major arcana is going to be hard to do. plus, if its a deck that has been used a lot, other people’s energies are infused into the cards and will mess up your readings when you do them. my suggestion is to go to a book store and go to the new age section. you need to pick a deck that you can hold in your hand and feel the energy coming from the cards. if it is a good energy, then that is the deck for you. otherwise, dont get it. decks normally run around 14-20 dollars depending on what deck it is and where you get them. i wish you luck, and please be careful when using them. metaphysics is dangerous to get involved with and should be approached with caution. never read too much into your cards. actually i suggest you deal out your cards and write down which layout you used and what cards were in which position. then a few weeks later, interperet your cards and see if what your cards said happened. if you put too much faith in your cards and interpret right away, you might do something you wouldnt do otherwise. i hope this information helps you in the near future.

The orignal reading cards were a 52 deck and some people read with the jokers, if reading and the joker is up side down it means he is laughing at you and what you are reading is more fears.

Then the tarot cards came about after that. THe 52 deck is called Gypsy reading. Another thing to remember when reading is that the 52 card deck is only is interested in the future or what is about to occur, the tarot deals with the past and the future and has lots of inuendo.

Grandmothers read these cards and passed it down to their children. The 10 of spades is bad luck or the prison card, 10 of hearts is hopes dream and ambitions. The quean of clubs is a woman with white skin, brown and blue or brown eyes (thats the colouring of the person) a quean pf spades is usually a dark skinned, dark eyed and dark haired woman) There are different variations for each card. The cards are very cryptic and takes years to work out the combinations. Its a very old art of divining.

You must not have searched very hard!

Start by studying tarots that have already been created. This is a dying art that needs to be explored before you attempt to do it yourself.

If you are talking about reading a regular deck of playing cards, than this is a wholly different matter (studying, not actually reading, which in itself is pretty similar…)

Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : how does a deck of 52 playing cards add up to 365. which is a symbol for the days of the year?

I have been researching the nature of the cards and want to know if I could use a regular deck like tarot cards and find meaning in them.

Answer by Clay
You can. They are known as the Minor Arcana, and each has a meaning.

As for the calendar thing, each card is a week, and the joker is only a day.

“‘The Deck of Cards’ is a story set during World War II, where a group of Army soldiers, on a long hike during a campaign in southern Italy, had arrived and camped near a town named Cassino. While Scripture is being read, one boy who has only a deck of playing cards, pulls them out and spreads them in front of him. He is immediately spotted by a sergeant, who orders the soldier to put them away (thinking he’s playing cards in church). The soldier is then arrested and taken before the Provost Marshal to be punished.

The Provost Marshal demands an explanation, to which the soldier explains the significance of each card:

Ace: The one true God
Deuce: The Old Testament and New Testament in the Bible
Trey/Three: The Holy Trinity; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit/Ghost
Four: St. Matthew, St. Mark, St. Luke, and St. John, evangelists and authors of the four Gospels
Five: The two groups of five virgins who trimmed their lamps for a wedding. Five were wise (by saving enough oil) and were admitted, while the other five were foolish (did not have enough oil) and were shut out.
Six: God created the Earth in six days.
Seven: God rested on the seventh day, now known as the Sabbath.
Eight: The eight righteous people whom God saved during the Great Flood: Noah, his wife, their three sons, and their wives.
Nine: Of the ten lepers whom Jesus cleansed, nine of them didn’t even thank him.
Ten: The Ten Commandments God handed down to Moses.
King: Jesus Christ, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, or alternatively, God the Father.
Queen: Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus and Queen of Heaven.
Jack or Knaves: Satan or the Devil
365 Spots: Days in a year (basic deck actually contains 364 + one Joker, though most decks of cards will contain two jokers)
52 Cards: Number of weeks in a year
Thirteen Tricks: Number of weeks in a quarter
Four Suits: Approximate number of weeks in a month (can also mean the four seasons but this is not included in the song)
Twelve Face Cards: Number of months in a year

He then says ‘my deck of cards serves me as a Bible, an almanac and a prayer book.'”

Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : what way is upright when reading your own tarot cards?

I am trying to read my own tarot cards, but I am not too sure which direction would call for the divisionary meaning, or the reverse. if the cards are upright, are they still divisionary if I am the diviner?

Answer by Pam Richards
Hello Ashley

Reversed cards are best used by the more experienced reader & are not a necessity. I have used them for over 20 years, never bother with the reversed.

There are upright or reversed simply by the upright or reversed nature of the card as it faces you the reader.

Answer by Scarlet MacBlu
Generally I always lay the cards out facing me, whether I’m reading for myself or someone else. The idea is that I am the one examining the cards, so they should be oriented towards me, visible to me for examination (what is the point of orienting the cards towards the seeker when s/he is not the one doing the reading and needing to get a good look at the cards?) That means an “upright” (or, as you call it “divisionary”) card would be one where the bottom edge (or “foot”) is towards me and the top edge (or “head) is away from me, no matter who I’m reading for. If you are concerned with reading reversed cards, a reversed card would be any card where the bottom edge is away from you and the top edge is towards your body so that it appears up-side-down to your eyes.

I do not usually read reversed cards with a reversed meaning… this is optional and very few professionals bother with reversed meanings, that I know of. I usually turn reversed cards back upright when I deal them because I do not feel that reversed reading is necessary and also, I find it silly to try to read a card that is up-side-down to me since the image is what is important and the image makes very little sense up-side-down… it’s like trying to read a book up-side-down, why bother? I would also recommend any beginner with the cards try this method first because reversed reading is rather complicated and adds a whole extra 78 meanings to the deck which can be difficult to remember and work with. If you feel like working with reversals later in your studies once you get the hang of upright readings, then you can experiment later. Frankly, I think there is enough potential meaning in the 78 cards upright that reversals are redundant.

When I read for others, I deal facing me, but I do know that sometimes it helps to have the seeker see the card properly, so I will occasionally turn a card towards the seeker after I am mostly done interpreting it so that they can look at it and add any insights of their own, but then I will re-orient the card towards me again before continuing on. Occasionally cards will pop up up-side-down and I will intuitively understand that it is necessary to read read that card differently… sometimes, however, it’s not about applying a “reversed meaning” to it, but instead will be a matter of looking at what direction the character on the card is facing or which other cards in the spread that reversed card may be pointing to, but the meaning remains essentially the same. It’s a matter of using your inner knowing and perception to know how to read the cards as they fall.

I’ve always ‘seen’ things that people would say are psychic and paranormal – and as a child, I had predictive dreams of ‘things to come’. Being that age, I was growing and playing but being a kid, I never really questioned this too much. Not until I got to about fourteen, when for some reason, I became very aware of it all and began to question. It was then that I suddenly started to realize that not everyone was having these dreams. Or that no-one else had their own ‘Cosmic Teachers’ who would come along, dressed in white and teach me.
