Answer by PinkTree
christians are like wiji boards

Answer by Mizer
No… You can hurt someone with a wiji board. Tarot cards are paper.

Answer by Archer87
Yes they are considered receiving info from the devil/demons not angels. Same as Ouiji boards.

Answer by wilderwriter
Tarot cards and ouija (not wiji) boards (and even astrology) can be harmless games. The problem arises if you start to BELIEVE them.

Answer by Elayne
Why would a Christian know this better than anyone else?

You should be asking Wiccans, not Christians.

Ouija boards and Tarot cards are both bull-crap.

Answer by southern_beauty1990

Answer by ——>
A: Christians dont use Tarot cards, we believe that we need only to pray to God for Him to help us.
B: Tarot cards are not used to communicate with the dead as ouija boards are, Tarot cards are supposedly a way to predict the future through energy.

Note: Being a history major I understand that most christian holidays were taken from paganism, that is correct. However, a VERY early form of Christianity called Zoroastrianism, taught by a prophet named Zoroaster came before paganism and the egyptian gods in early Persia. Most Christian beliefs actually come from this. Zoroaster preached about a great battle between good and evil and the ruling of one god. However, I will say that also have nothing against Paganism and understand your point of view.

Answer by Amy N
is a wiji board anything like ouija board?

this is the same nonsensical propaganda the church has been spreading for the last 2000 years!

Spirit boards and Tarot cards both rely on contact with spirits. however spirits are not demons or devils. they’re spirits. The essence and energy of all things living and dead. there is no Satan worship going on in either, just like there is no Satan worship going on in Wicca or Paganism. in fact most of the Christian rites and holidays were borrowed/stolen from Paganism. believe it or not the Abrahamic faiths are actually pretty young. the Egyptian gods predate Yahweh by thousands of years, so if you’re saying anyone who worships anything other than your god is worshiping the devil, that’s like saying Satan is older than God. now I’m not saying you should stop worshiping your god. far from it. if it makes you happy, and it feels right to you, then by all means continue to do so. I’m just saying you should stop and think about what you’ve been taught, and to stop lumping everything that isn’t Christian in with devil worship, because that’s not what any of it is. Not even Satanists worship Satan.

Answer by thevoiceofexperience
I consider myself an Anglican Christian, but there are many Christian denominations including the LDS.

To me, it’s a similar argument as what the Apostle Paul talks about when there was controversy in Corinth about whether Christians can eat the foods that were offered to idols

To some Christians, neither Tarot Cards or Ouija Boards have any power and can’t harm anyone. They’re just games of prognostication…and are subject to interpretation. I’ve never owned a Ouija board, but I currently own a set of Tarot cards, but I seldom use them.

However, others (including people I know who are practising Wiccans) feel such things are a gateway into the spiritual world and if not handled right can cause havoc. Not unlike Pandora’s box.

In reality, it’s all the power of suggestion. If you think it will hurt you, then it will.

Answer by SimplyME
It’s Ouija not Wiji…lol

Answer by hudsongray
LOL, it’s spelled Ouija, not Wii. Wii is that new electronics game.

Tarot gives you a snapshot of how things are right now, and you can change the outcome by adjusting your actions, they don’t tell 100% of the future because so many things are still in flux.

They have no connection to the devil, they started out as playing cards in the Middle Ages, and were used as tarot about 200 years later. In fact, during the time of the inquisition, where EVERYTHING was likely to get you called a witch, tarot cards were NOT on that list, so even the Medieval church didn’t connect them to the devil.

I’m Catholic. I have no qualms about usisng tarot. My priest is ok with it too. In fact the last pope had a tarot book on his desk in one of the pictures that were shown on the internet. If the Pope was ok with it, that should make it easier to understand. Personally I can’t see how any of the cards could even get close to ‘worshiping’ him. The ‘devil’ card in the deck reads as ‘internal knowledge is ignored to your detriment’ type of meaning. It’s a warning to pay attention. It’s not a devil card.

Answer by KittyCorpus
I grew up in an LDS community, and Ouija boards and Tarot Cards were pretty much considered evil, because they both use spirits. Tarot Cards to predict the future, and Ouija boards for various reasons, If you don’t want none of that, I’d stay away from both.

Answer by SadharaSatguru

I am answering as a Psychic.

Tarot cards are a tool for personal development, meditation, guidance & insight.

The devil is not within a deck of 79 laminated peices of card but within the minds of mankind.

Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : Can tarot cards be banned from public schools?

I recently brought my tarot deck to school in an effort to practice my “skills” on fellow, open minded classmates. It was before school technically started, so I wasn’t interrupting class, but when my principal realized what I was doing, he made me put up the cards and banned me from bringing them to school again. I did as he asked, but I researched laws and regulations in this area and there are none in the state of Missouri nor in my high school (that i could find) that prohibited bringing tarot cards (or any other cards) to school. I want to see if my assumption that I was actually doing no “wrong” and therefore there was no reason to be restricted from having them out at school (unless it’s distracting students from work, of course). I am especially irritated because some of my classmates walk around with their Bibles and randomly read verses during class, which is distracting and (after such repetition) bordering on offensive.

Main question: Anyone know if it’s entirely legal for me to be restricted from bringing tarot cards to school in a non-distracting situation, especially when Bibles are more than allowed?

Answer by diskoboy7
Bibles are allowed in public schools? Since when?

Bibles are only allowed in religious, private schools. Most public schools I know of will suspend you simply for uttering the word “God”

Answer by Crystaillee

If your practicing Tarot Cards because of religious beliefs (such as Wicca, Pagan, etc) then they definitely can’t ban them from your high school.Or even if you just using them for pure entertainment purposes. Talk to your principal in a mature way and he claims something like your Tarot Cards makes other people uneasy – tell him people who bring bibles or wear crosses to school make you uneasy, since you don’t share the same point of views. If you can’t religiously express yourself why can others?

Answer by spunk113
Is this a private or a public school?
If it’s the former, well, they can do whatever the heck they want. If it’s the latter, well, if they’re going to say you can’t have your tarot cards, then they’d better throw all those kids toting bibles in detention. If it’s a public school they sure as heck shouldn’t be reading verses from it. Talk to your counselor and your parents and get this straightened out.

Answer by Sadhara Satguru

You will probably find that the teacher who took them did so out of a ‘knee jerk’ reaction to them, rather than a rule of any kind.

Approach your head etc.

Answer by Lillith
You have the right to bring them to school if you like.
Sounds as if the principal is ignorant to the purpose of the cards.
It seems that you are being more respectful of the faculty and students in regards to when you are using them, which to me says a lot about your character. Those that ‘impose’ and disrupt with thier bible versus need to be just as respectful or be banned from such practice as you have been.
You have your right to what ever Faith you choose.
I do not think that the principal has any legal right. I’d say he/she is acting on a personal belief and imposing that upon you, and that is messed up.

Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : I just bought some tarot cards, but my mom wants me to throw them away?

I do not believe in any of that evil stuff; I think that things turn out however you want them to. I think that tarot cards are one of those things that are pretty vague.. it’s all for fun; but I think that it can help you to better yourself as a person. What do you think?
Oh yea; and please don’t preach to me about the devil or some weird crap that I don’t care about from the bible. I have dabbled in Satanism, Wicca, etc. and believe me… IT IS ALL IN YOUR MIND. I’m not a Christian so I don’t care what GOD says, thanks.
I think that they better you as a person because it gives you advice…lol; that’s it. Most of them tell you to eliminate negative things affecting your life, etc.

Those Who Practice Magic Arts

Webster defines magic as: 1 a: the use of means (as charms or spells) believed to have supernatural power over natural forces b: magic rites or incantations
2 a: an extraordinary power or influence seemingly from a supernatural source b: something that seems to cast a spell

The bible says, “Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the LORD your God.” (Deuteronomy 18:9-13) No one that does these things will be blameless before God. God cannot look upon these acts. These acts are for the wicked. These acts are practices that the bible says not to do.

He sacrificed his own son in the fire, practiced sorcery and divination, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the LORD, provoking him to anger. (2 Kings 21:6) When people practice magic arts, then they are doing evil in the site of God. When people do evil, they provoke God to anger. When God is angry he pours out his wrath on you. You will not be blessed, but you will be cursed.

Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood. (Revelation 22:5) This verse is comparing everyone who practices evil with dogs. Bible says magic arts are a false practice. When this verse is saying outside, it is talking about being outside of heaven. People who practice magic arts will not enter into the gates of heaven.

But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8) All who practice magic arts will go to the lake of fire (HELL). This is what the bible calls the second death. God will judge all the wicked. The wicked will be judge at the white throne judgment.

If you are one of the people who practice magic arts God will forgive you. Just repent and turn from your wickedness.

Go Mom!

I know this girl who got into that type of witchcraft. She got posessed by an evil spirit and she started talking about killing herself and I believe she may have attempted suicide. This was several years of having the demon around and it would not go away.

If you’re going to play with fire, expect to get burned.

Answer by The Reverend C
Tarot cards are an amusing diversion with no signifigance. Your mom is having a stereotypical reaction. I had a buddy who used to have to hide his D&D books for the same reason.

Answer by blugurl
Theres no harm in them. You draw a card, read up on its meaning and think about it. People create the meaning in their lives. Drawing tarot cards are a fun way of reflecting about yourself. Nothing supernatural about it.

Answer by Fuguee
Here is what I think, that you are probably old enough to know where your own spirituality lies. However, Moms like to be Moms so the choice is up to you. If you hide this from her, how will that make you feel? If you indeed return the cards, you can always work your divination skills with a regular deck of playing cards, until such a time when you are on your own, and you find the deck that appeals to you.

Answer by milomax
I think tarot cards can be a good source of guidance, but not necessarily a tool for telling the future. Though they have proved accurate for me. Depending on how old you are… you may have to do what your mom says. But you can use them when you’re older.

Obviously, I don’t think they’re evil. I think that comes down to the intent of the reader.

Answer by Demosthenes
sorry girl but i am in a similiar situation.

what i think would be best to do is throw away the deck if you dont want to get your ommo angry.

but if you dont care, keep it hidden. the old mantra “what momma dont know wont hurt her” is in effect. basically what im sayin is that its her house, and you gotta follow her rules. or at least make her think you are.

and to the man who posted all the biblical scripture, you do realise that your detestable to the LORD too, dont you??

i was a christian for the first 16 yrs. of my life, and i know alot of things about it.

let me tell you why your detestable to the LORD. you are detestable because you sin. and to god NO sin is bigger or smaller than another. so by lying, you make yourself just as vile as a murderer in God’s eyes.

so who are any of you to tell this girl she is going to hell or that she will be led down the wrong path because of these tarot cards??

and how is a book supposed to help someone change thier lives??
its not the book that changes lives, its the content. its the same with the cards.

ohh and not to become dr. phil or anything. but the reason your gonna pray for her, is so that you can act as if you had something to do with her convertion if she did convert, but god says that you should boast of nothing, for it is through him that all things are done. but by praying you become active in her life, and in God’s plan. it says to pray in the bible, because god likes it. but he already knows this girl. he doesnt NEED you to pray for her. he will enact his “plan” either way.

sorry for turning this into a religous discussion.

anways like i said either listen to your mom, or dont. but remember its her house and her rules. so try and respect them

and most definitely try and educate her if possible

Answer by Maria
I have just gotten into tarot cards and I can tell you they are hitting my life right on the nail. The stuff that is going on in my life, is coming up in the cards. I think they absolutely work. As to whether they are evil or not, I am just as inquisitive as you, but I’m more leaning on that they’re not. They’re only pieces of paper! I think, why would something be evil that is helping and guiding you? Bringing clarity to your life. What is evil is putting a spell, hex, jinx on someone’s life and completely messing them up. My situatuion was different in that I already had a jinx put on me, and bad luck all the time. So I had no choice but to turn to tarot b/c I had to figure out why my life was such a mess. And let me tell you, psychics don’t work! I haven’t come across one that was making any sense! I’ve gotten a billion times better results with tarot than psychics! These cards tell the truth…. I think that it is terrible to put something on someone and that person is so evil and they will get it back worse. But tarot cards are not doing that. It only involves you.

Answer by tarot_source
As you mention, tarot can be very useful for self-development, as well as being a bit of fun.

If your mother is profoundly affected by your having these cards, you must decide how important that is to you. However, if you are interested in keeping them, do not allow others to influence away from what you feel is right for you.

That said, as with all tools, tarot should be used responsibly. If, as it seems from what you have written, you are interested in acquiring differing views and philosophies, then tarot can be a fascinating way to explore these, there being so many different decks out there to investigate. A great deal of knowledge and understanding has been invested in many of these decks, as well as great beauty having been created in their artwork.

I hope you will not be using tarot as a rebellion, though, as a way to hit out at anyone, especially your mother. I do not think this is what you are meaning, but it is something which can happen, so please be wary of this.

All the very best,

Tarot Source

Answer by bssc
Tarot, like anything, is a tool. In an ideal world, it will help you spiritually and serve for you to deepen your relationship with God. Used incorrectly, it can be used to manipulate people.

What I think is that this frightens your mother because she is religious, not spiritual. It is not to condemn her but help you understand where she is coming from. Talking directly with God/Spirit/the Universe can be quite frightening. Look at Noah or Abraham, they put up with lots of ridicule. Even worse, God asked them to do some pretty uncomfortable things.

The ironic thing is that Pagans consider the standard Rider Waite Tarot deck to be too Christian. After all, it has the Hierophant, which used to be the Pope, the Judgment and the Hanged Man (who could represent Jesus).

Hopefully, the cards will allow you to learn more about yourself, especially your higher self.
