tarot card reader

Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : Are those tarot cards things in stores money making scams or real?

At barnes and nobles they sell those things. They’re like 2 dices roll them and than match the result with one of the tarot cards to determine the future. Are they money making scams or real? P.S when people at my school tried them they said its just poker cards with pictures printed on to trick you. If you think they’re real don’t go booming it’ll tell you the day you’ll die or I’m a fortune teller.

Answer by TR
The tarot cards are not a scam themselves. They’re a deck of cards that are supposed to let you tell your fortune, but that’s an old wives tale. They don’t really do anything but possibly provide some entertainment. On the other hand, if someone wants to give you a tarot card reading in exchange for money, then that certainly is a scam.

Answer by Tukmyhamster
No they’re not real. Imagine what the world would be like if there was any easy way to tell the future (or any way at all actually).

Those sort of things are just for entertainment, not be taken seriously.

When your friends said that they were poker cards with pictures printed on, they were not far from the truth.

Tarot cards were created in the mid 15th century Italy for the Milanese court. The consist of a standard pack of Latin suited playing cards (these were the first suits in Europe being cups, coins, swords, and batons) and a fifth suit of picture cards. These extra cards took as their theme, not an occult philosophy or magical symbols, but a Christian triumph procession – hence their early name of trionfi, meaning triumphs and from which we get our word trump. It was the invention of tarot that marked the invention of trumps in card games – and that is what they were invented for, a family of card games that continues to be played throughout continental Europe to this day!

It was not until the end of the 18th century that a Parisian occultist, Antoine Court de Gebelin, picked up the cards and, ignorant of their actual origin, invented one about their being from Egypt and having a use for fortune telling.

Without an occult origin, fortune telling with tarot is no different in kind from fortune telling with tea leaves, dominoes, or knuckle bones – and just as hard to take seriously.

In as much as they are selling the cards as a way to learn the future, then I would say that they are scam. But, keep in mind that they can be used for some great card games and any game that has spread througout a continent and survived for nearly 600 years is going to be good – no scam!

No, this is BS and a bastardization of the true meaning of the Tarot (which is based in the Jewish Cabala originally). Dice and tarot are a stupid combo.

Answer by Acid09
The cards won’t help you win any lottery. But they can be used to help a person find insight in day to day life. They could be used as a medium for introspection. The meaning behind tarot cards can reflect personal opinions and subconscious desires. Similar to how free association (automatic writing) can be used to draw out subconscious emotions. Tarot cards can be used by the questionnaire to basically explore themselves. And you could argue they can “predict” the future, they most certainly do not “foretell” the future. Of course, it all depends on how you interpret the oracles on the cards.

Tarot cards are far different than regular playing cards. Playing cards are divided into different suits (clubs, hearts, spades and diamonds) while tarot cards are divided into a minor and major arcana. The major arcana is composed of some 22 trump cards, each with specific meanings that when placed within a specific location of a given spread is suppose to have a meaning that is specific to the questionnaire.

The minor arcana is divided into 56 cards divided into four suits that usually are along the lines of “Cups/chalices, coins/pentacles, swords and stalves/wands/spears”. There are literally dozens of different tarot decks. Some are designed for a specific function.

Again as far as foretelling the future, tarot cards are not very reliable. But they can be used as a personal tool to find a greater understanding of one’s inner self.

I have found that they trigger pictures for people with developed
psychic abilities.
I have had some that gave me great information
and at other times could not get anything right. Maybe I was
blocking the flow of information.
Carl Jung recognized the help he could get by using unconventional
methods and usually cast a horoscope for his clients. Saved
immeasurable time.

Tarot Cards can provide useful information when read by a competent reader. I am not familiar with a Game that uses tarot cards and dice though. I will check it out if I see one and get back to you. We have a Barnes and Noble in our city also. Not all tarot readers are scammers that charge for a reading but I would never pay more than $ 20.00 for a reading and it better not be a three card reading either.

Answer by Mr. P
It sounds like this is purely down to chance, you have very little imput, so the result will be very limited.

Real tarot uses cards which you pick – and this is usually a minimum of 3, and the reading is determined by the reader – which may be you.
Tarot cards usually have many pictures wihin them, so it really depends which you focus on to determine the result of the reading.

Answer by Spiritual Paradigm Shift
They actually teach evil Hermetic magic and show future events.

Look at the Tower card. Remember 9/11/01? The 8 year warning of the start of the Tribulation? (Isaiah 30:25)

To see who was really responsible read Revelation 9/11

Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : How do you find your personal tarot card?

The tarot card that speaks about your inner self based on whatever products you use…I’m not sure and I’m sure many people use different methods but I was curious…preferably a psychic with years of experience please

Answer by mr_crankypants
There is no such a thing accordig to all the major teachings on tarot. Every card in Tarot is relative to the others in the reading, and it cannot be broken down any frurther than a single reading.

The same way I find my personal M+M.

Answer by crystalohlm
I agree with Mr. Crank. There is no one ‘personal’ Tarot card. But, guessing from your avatar, I would say the Page of Wands………

Answer by leftcoastliz
It’s usually one of the kings or queens used to represent you, but I suppose you could use one of the other card. Some say it’s by body type, but if you’re drawn to a particular one, then choose that.

I think a deck of Tarot cards is mainly one tool toward inner knowledge, so the main thing is using them to draw out your own thoughts, rather than requiring a psychic. Use a psychic for other things, such as past lives, the present life, & aura reading. Some are good. I would never go to one of those phonies with the store front or at a fair. The good ones shouldn’t need Tarot cards or crystal ball or anything.

As far as I know, there is no one card that is your personal card. Each time you do a reading or have one done for you, the cards change according to the current conditions in your life.

In the Celtic Cross spread, the first card down is the essence of what is happening in your life, but again, that is only for the current circumstances and will change with every reading.

Answer by summerlandtarot
There is something called your personal tarot card. It tells you something about your character or how your character should be. By adding the digits of your birthday you can figure out what Major Arcana Card you are.

Mine is
6-9-1963 so 6+9+1+9+6+3=34
34=3+4=”7″ – The Chariot
This tell me that my life purpose is initiating change in society, developing a self-belief, bearer of good new and learning to be more assertive, overcoming challenges. Travel is important to me. I am at risk for an over-inflated ego, arrogance, blah blah blah, 🙂

Now you can use identifiers such as The Page of Whatever, but you have to sort of relate to the card. As a reader I could see a woman or man and make a pre-judgement about their personalities and apply it to a card, but that is an assumption unless I pick something up on them. I prefer the Numerology method.

Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : About how much does hiring a psychic for a party cost?

Or a tarot card reader, palm reader, or tea leaf reader?
Rough estimate
if I asked them to come to my house
I’m not so concerned about being accurate
this is just for fun
of course I bet guests would be impressed if they got a really accurate reading

Answer by Kenny
$ 6/hr

Answer by ideaguy83
It’s going to depend on a couple of factors. Firstly, if the person fancies him/herself a professional then you’ll probably see a bigger price tag than if you ask the lady around the corner who has a tarot deck. The second consideration is if you are paying only a flat fee or if you are going to pay a smaller fee to cover travel and then the reader will charge your guest for the services they wish to receive. The third consideration will be how many guests you have.

From my experience, you can usually get local talent for a small party for $ 50. If you seek out a “professional” you’ll probably see rates more in the $ 300 range plus fees for additional services like audio recordings or more detailed readings. (Eastern Canada).

Some are better than others. So,first of all I would check your area.Call a fiend or someone you know who has used one. They will be honest with you.Depending on the years and how accurate they are will be their price. My girlfriend did it and the “psychic”just charged each person like 50 bucks? Its probably cheaper to invite her to do for party though I would say.
It all really depends on your area of where you live.
Love the idea.I would come sounds liek so much fun!

Answer by alaindrea
I charge $ 50 for a one hour reading, and $ 30 for a half- hour reading. And my prices are a little low/average for my area. To come to someon’e house I would have to add a mileage/trip charge. If I was reading for a party I would charge a flat rate for th party of about $ 80-100 per hour, 3 hr minimum
