tarot reading

Source : Yahoo AnswersQuestion : Are tarot card readings necessarily a sin?

I am a catholic and believe in God, but I have always been fascinated with things from the occult. I want to get a tarot deck and learn how to do readings, but I don’t intend to take them seriously. I’ve gotten readings before and never once have I taken them for their worth.
This is a question mainly for Christians that know what they are talking about.
I just want it for the fun, nothing more.

Pretty much.

Catholic Church teaches:

God can reveal the future to his prophets or to other saints. Still, a sound Christian attitude consists in putting oneself confidently into the hands of Providence for whatever concerns the future, and giving up all unhealthy curiosity about it.

All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to “unveil” the future.

Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers.

They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone.

The Gospels are Truth in Spirit, Word and Deed. Reading them is Life, Virtues and Blessings in abundance. Tarot cards have no significance.

Answer by In The Cards
I think that depends on how you use them. Tarot cards can certainly be used for fortune-telling which is a forbidden area in Christianity but you can also use them as a psychological tool to figure out the present which would be acceptable. Prophecy is discussed in Corinthians II but in the context of being used to glorify the church and further Christian faith, which makes it okay.

I know Christians that use them and those that don’t. If you’re on the fence, talk to your parish priest about it but I’m pretty sure I know what his answer would be.

If there was a fixed recipe for reading tarot a computer could do it. Tarot cards are paper & ink, no more. If you want to pretend that a stack of pretty pictures communicate meaning to you go ahead and have fun with it. All it takes is imagination and a little gullibility.

Virgo June 2013 Tarot and Oracle Reading with Spirit Guides and Angels

Written by ClairvoyantConni

Since the age of 2 I have had encounters and a personal relationship with loved ones crossed. In my opinion there are no better friends you can have. They are honest, without the capacity to hold ego or materialistic views and always give you accurate information to help you through whatever you are going through. They have the ability to see the past, present and future without judgement. Their accuracy is uncanny.

Having the gift of sight, hearing, sensing, smelling and tasting as well as empathy and the gift of communicating with spirit, gives me the ability to accurately read you without judgement.

Spirit has entrusted me with these gifts to help you in all areas of your life. It has been an exciting journey. This gift is generational and my grandmother and father both had the gift as well as my children.

I have assisted over 15,598 people online in the last 9 years alone. I have thousands of other clients as well. This is what I dedicate my life to as I know it is my life calling.
